Welcome to Small Potatoes Farm
Minburn, IA

Small Potatoes Farm is owned and managed by Rick and Stacy Hartmann. That's us below.

Rick began working with chefs and specialty groceries in Ames and Des Moines in 2001. Stacy joined him
in 2004. That year they purchased an old farmstead and Small Potatoes Farm was born. They have
been improving it ever since.

In the beginning, the farmstead looked like
this. The rehabilitation of the land, the buildings and the
house took much work and time. The effort was worth it, however, and the farm now provides nearly one
hundred families with weekly, very fresh, organic produce throughout the growing season.
We find the work rewarding and important and many
of our CSA members have been with the farm ten

Small Potatoes has a reputation for offering some of
the freshest and best quality organic vegetables
available. We continually try to improve our
management, however, to bring people good value
for their hard-earned dollars, connect them closer to
their food and provide ecological and social benefits
to our communities.

What We Need
at the Farm

Our Mission

Small Potatoes Farm is an intensively managed, certified organic, human-scale farm, focused on
raising the highest quality, best-tasting vegetables in central Iowa. Our varieties are chosen with
an eye toward taste and quality.

We sell to individuals and households directly as possible, primarily through our CSA.

Besides being certified organic by a federally recognized certifying agency, we are always striving
for additional environmentally sustainable practices.

We believe our success is based on equitable relationships with those who eat our food.
We are full for the 2016 season, but
feel free to contact us for a spot on our
2017 waiting list.
